Directors

Noel Esquivel

Mr. Noel Esquivel, or Mr. E., has served the students, parents, and community of Pflugerville for the last 10 years as an Associate Director at KLMS. This year he has taken on the role of Director of Bands for the Knight Band program.

In 2010, Mr. E. earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where he studied under Dr. Caroline Beatty and Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt. While attending school he was the co-principal clarinet of the Wind Ensemble, principal clarinet of the Chamber Orchestra, and guest soloist for the Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Esquivel has performed in different parts of the world including the White House, Rome, Venice, Florence and London. In 2016, Mr. E. completed his Master’s in Music Education from Texas State University, and holds a Principal’s Certificate in Texas.

Mr. E. has had the pleasure of teaching beginner oboe, bassoon, clarinet, horn, euphonium and tuba classes as well as the Symphonic Winds and Honor Band advanced ensembles. This year, he will conduct the Wind Ensemble.

Mr. Esquivel loves teaching and looks to his students, colleagues and music for inspiration!

Taylor Jacobsen

Mrs. Jacobsen is one of the Associate Directors at Kelly Lane Middle School, and has taught for 3.5 years. One year of that has been at Kelly Lane MS teaching the beginning clarinet, flute, and horn class as well as the Honor Band. This year, she will be teaching the beginning clarinet, flute, and saxophone class as well as the Honor Band.

Mrs. Jacobsen earned her bachelors in music education from Sam Houston State University in the Fall of 2016, where she studied music education under Dr. Matthew McInturf, Dr. Brian Gibbs, and clarinet under Dr. Patricia Card. While at Sam Houston, Mrs. Jacobsen had the privilege of marching in the Bearkat Marching Band and played principal clarinet in the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Jacobsen also obtained her masters degree in music education from Texas State University in the Summer of 2021. While at Texas State, Mrs. Jacobsen was a graduate assistant for the Woodwind Studies courses, and played clarinet in the Wind Symphony.

In her free time, Mrs. Jacobsen loves to hang out with friends and family and play board and video games, and loves to spend time with her husband and two pups, Bella and Buttons!

Jairo Cabrera

Mr Cabrera is one of the Associate Directors at Kelly Lane Middle school. A native Texan, Mr. Cabrera grew up in Plano Texas. Mr. Cabrera graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors in Music Studies. 

During his time at UT, Mr Cabrera had the honor of playing with the UT Wind Ensemble, Longhorn Band and multiple other ensembles. Mr. Cabrera studied trumpet with professor Billy Hunter and studied music under Dr. Bob Duke and Dr. Amy Simmons. 

This is Mr. Cabrera’s first year teaching and he could not be happier starting his teaching life at Kelly Lane Middle School!

During his free time Mr. Cabrera enjoys playing his trumpet, spending time with family, and driving around Texas in his mustang!

 

Nathan Zamora

Nathan Zamora currently serves as the Percussion Director for Hendrickson High School and Kelly Lane Middle School. He oversees the percussion program from 6th-12th grade, manages the Hawk Band website, oversees and manages all Hawk Band Social Media, assists with the Hawk Band concert ensembles, and serves as the programs audio engineer and graphic designer. Nathan is also a Front Ensemble Instructor for the World-Class Independent Percussion Ensemble, Rhythmic Force.

 Nathan attended The University of Texas at Austin earning a degree in Music Education. While at The University of Texas, he was a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Opera, Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Percussion Ensemble, Longhorn Band, and Marimba Band. Alongside Dr. Tiffany Galus he helped pioneer the UT LIVE! Livestreams, creating graphics and leading the videography.

 He studied percussion under Dr. Thomas Burritt & Tony Edwards, both world renowned artists and performers. He was a member of the 2016 PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition winning collegiate ensemble with The University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Zamora studied conducting under Jerry Junkin, Dr. Tiffany Galus, and Dr. Scott Hanna. He was also a member of the Guardians Drum Corps Front Ensemble and has performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and the Cedar Park Winds. 

 Mr. Zamora has worked with different programs in the area such as Westlake HS, John Paul Stevens HS, Austin High, and The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders. He also helps lead the UT Conducting Workshop in Austin, Texas. In his spare time he serves as the Operations Specialist at Ultimate Drill Book, member of the KeepMakingMusic team, creates virtual performance with KeepMakingMusic and loves to play foot golf.
