This will be a fun week!  The Hawk Band is going to join us during class on Tuesday!!

“Success isn’t always about the greatness.  It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success.  Greatness will come. -Dwane “The Rock” Johnson

One of the highlights this semester is the “MidKnight Madness” event on February 21! We need lots of parents to join in on the madness!!  Please click the link to sign up!

Rehearsals
This week we will not have pizza at after the evening rehearsal, but we will have treats after sectionals in the mornings.  🙂 Students will probably want a light snack before we begin rehearsal on Tuesday (Jan. 28) 4pm-6pm.

Please watch dates for rehearsals and performances.  It is VERY important that ALL students attend ALL rehearsals (as full band rehearsals are meant to help us learn balance, blend and intonation within sections and the full band).  Below is a link to the band calendar that the students were given in August. Please try to avoid major orthodontic appointments close to performances!

Recordings
We are struggling a bit with our contemporary piece (Crystals).  Have your student listen to the professional recording. This helps to create an ‘ideal’ image so they can balance and blend their parts more efficiently. They can access them on their Google Classroom account.

Homework
The district requires us to enter grades at the 9 weeks grading period progresses.  The deadline for Music Mastery (all 9 cuts) is Feb. 19, but to encourage students to not wait until the last minute to try to pass everything off, we have entered the first two Mastery Cuts into the grade book. It is recommended that they pass them off on Charms (www.charmsoffice.com school code: ‘klmsband’ password: id unless changed).  They may stay after school this Friday (1/31/20) if they would like to pass off some of their “music mastery” assignments with a director (they are also welcome to record this assignment on a voice memo app and send it to band.klms@gmail.com )
